The State of the Hack: Find Evil. Solve Crime

This presentation will examine the trends and explore real case studies in incident response and computer forensics that both commercial organizations and government agencies are experiencing on a daily basis.  The stakes are significantly higher and the sources of attack are global.  Foreign governments and organized crime syndicates are aggressively targeting companies and individuals to capture digital assets such as payment card data and trade secrets. This presentation is intended for professionals who regularly deal with system risk, operational risk, financial risk, or legal risk and understand the potential business impact to their business.  The participants of this session will walk away with a firm understanding of the magnitude and severity of the matter-at-hand (yes, we are under constant cyber attack) and how to better view information security risk at their organization.  The presentation will cover the following topics:
  • Overview of Presentation
  • Trends and Statistics in Incident Response & Computer Forensics
  • Discussion of Real Case Studies
  • Technical Deficiencies in Computer Security
  • Business Impact and Legal Concerns
  • Measures to Mitigate Information Security Risk
  • Closing with Q&A
